The Third Party Diary was a diary about the presence of third parties on websites of the Government of the Netherlands in 2012. The diary gives an impression of how many and which types of analytics, widgets, trackers or advertisers you could find when visiting the government online in the period of August – December 2012. An English explanation of the method can be found at this research wiki.
The diary is kept by Lonneke van der Velden. She is a PhD-researcher at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) and the Digital Methods Initiative (DMI). Her work focuses on digital surveillance and interventions that make surveillance mechanisms tangible.
